Whittaker Chambers, aka Jay Vivian Chambers, an American writer-editor and former Communist spy in 1948, testified about Communist espionage in front of the HUAC in congress. Chambers was a principal figure in the Alger Hiss case, one of the most publicized espionage incidents of the Cold War.
